"Fire Escapes, E. 67th Street"
Often, the backs of buildings seem to have more character & interest than the fronts. This view is from the rear of my wife's workplace -- the public library on East 67th Street.
Most of the images on this site are done in and around my favorite natural habitat -- New York City, and especially the Upper West side. I started sketching and painting New York as a student nearly 50 years ago, and continue to find endless inspiration in rhythms and colors of the urban streetscape.
I also will be posting some gleanings from my sketchbooks, mainly for the students in my “Sketching in the City” evening classes, part of Angela Tripi-Weiss’s unique Arts In Action program.
